A few days ago I was posting here on this forum when mycomputer hit what appeared to be a security alert. It then would not allow me to run any other program except to a site that appeared to be an add for a virus protection program. Fortunately I was able to shut down the computer and take it over to my good friend ( the son I should have had) who was able to remove this malware from my computer.
The next day at work, we received a message from the FBI warning our entire department of this exact scam. Apparently it is a phishing scam solely for an ID theft ring.
I know most of you here arepretty computer savy and may already know about this scam. However, it hit while I was working on this site so my first concern was this site and those who use it regularly. Hopefully this does not happen to anyone else, and I do not think the site is infected but I just could not let this go by without warning my buds.

Thank you for the warning could you post up the specific topic you where looking at so if we have an infection Viper can get it sorted or so others can avoid the Portal Virus. Lucky you had someone to help some people don't. If I recall one of my groups on my forum had a similar warning but my Anti Virus was running and detected it first and I have managed to lock that section down.

Oh and what version of widows are you using it might be a bit different for some on the new windows 7 then XP or Vista as they aren't as secure as newer versions.

I was posting cars in the Big Daddy Inc section and I do not think it is specific to this site. I am currently running Windows XP.
The reason I even mention it is because we had a network warning at my office and only a small percentage of employees have internet access, so this must be a pretty serious threat. When my buddy was removing it, he was able to identify it and it was an identified virus/trojan/malware propgram.
Again, I just wanted to let as many people know about it as I can so they can be protected.
